Members of The David Livingstone Bicentenary & Livingstone 2013 Committee had the honour of being presented to HRH Princess Anne at a Reception to celebrate The Queen's Diamond Jubilee held at the Livingstone Museum, Zambia, on 28 September 2012.

Her Royal Highness, Princess Anne, addresses Members of Parliament at the National Assembly of Zambia

The following is an extract from the speech given on 28 September 2012, during the official visit to Zambia of Her Royal Highness, The Princess Royal, Princess Anne, to mark the Diamond Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth.

Princess Anne, said about the forthcoming David Livingstone Bicentenary:

"The ties between the United Kingdom and Zambia are long-standing, strong and historic.

The first European to see the Victoria Falls was David Livingstone.  He did much to bring Christianity to what is now Zambia.  He is of course still remembered in the name of one of Zambia’s great towns, which I visited earlier this week. Plans are afoot to celebrate his bicentenary next year in Zambia, in the UK, and in Malawi."
